Every day, children are born with muscular dystrophy and adults are diagnosed with ALS and other life-threatening diseases that take away their most basic freedoms - like walking, talking, eating, hugging, and ultimately life itself. For 66 years the International Association of Firefighters has partnered with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help Fill the Boot.

By Filling the Boot, firefighters across the country are able to raise millions of dollars each year for the families affected by muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other types of neuromuscular diseases. This money is used to help fund critical research, support vital programs, and provides the funding to send the kids to a yearly weeklong summer camp. However, 2020 has been a tough year for all of us and unfortunately, we are unable to Fill the Boot in our traditional way.

For decades, the proud citizens of Albuquerque have kindly donated and Filled the Boots of Firefighters from the Albuquerque Fire Rescue and Bernalillo County Fire Department. In 2019, we were able to raise nearly $63,000! This year, due to the COVID-19 virus, AFR and BCFD will be conducting a joint Virtual Fill the Boot campaign in order to maintain social distancing and do our part control the spread.

We ask that you please share this video and consider donating to the Fill the Boot campaign.

We know this is a challenging time for everyone, but if you have the means to donate any amount, MDA could really use your support.

Thank you, Albuquerque, for your continued support and dedication throughout the years.

Stay safe and stay healthy.
